Work From Home At Your Own Online Business
Posted on 03. Jan, 2011 by Loren Greig in Online Marketing
More and more people everyday want to work from home on businesses originating from the comfort of their own environment. Not only can a lot of money be made from a home based business, but there is also the convenience and freedom that has a large influence on those seeking this type of lifestyle.
Starting a work from home business is relatively easy and inexpensive.
Start up and overhead costs are relatively low compared to a standard brick and mortar business. With an online business your major start up purchases are for your website, domain, web hosting and auto responder services. There are so many other products and tools that are available for free for your set up process.
When you decide to work from home, you first you need to find something that you really enjoy doing. Envision a profession that you can easily become passionate about when promoting the business opportunity. Being passionate about your home based business will definitely help you through the ups and downs and challenges that can be encountered with every business.
Although you don’t necessarily require large sums of money or skilled experience to start an online business from home, you do have to have a good working knowledge of basic computer skills. It’s also wise to gain some knowledge and experience in the profession you’ve chosen and to have a good understanding of how to run and market a business. You can always continuously build and expand on the basic foundation of those skills
Treat your Business Like A Business, Not A Hobby.
Once your business is consistently producing the results you want and goals you envision, you are then in a position to generate the income you desire. To achieve this, however, you need to treat your business like a business and not a hobby. By that I mean in order for the business to generate income and to grow, you must devote time and energy to learning, building and growing a business that will attract customers and keep them. It is important to decide on the hours you want to devote to your online business and be very consistent with keeping those hours either as part-time or full-time work.
Although there is money to be made with an online business, in order to create good income you have to treat your business as you would any offline business. There is no “get rich quick” program in the online business industry, though you may hear otherwise. It will take the same amount of time to successfully build a profitable home based business, just as it takes to build any other business.
Put In Thought, Time And Effort To Make Your Business Profitable.
There is a certain amount of freedom that people enjoy when working from home. There is a better income potential, you don’t have to invest a lot of money at start up and you will reap the rewards of all the time and effort you put into it right away. You are limited only by your own imagination and effort. This way of doing business far outweighs any other business model but always keep in mind that you need to put in the thought, time and effort to make your business profitable.
To work from home at our own online business is a very viable business opportunity.

Hi Loren,
You nailed all the important points! I think one of the mistakes people make is thinking how easy it’s going to be- sell some products, recruit a few friends, and voila you’ll be rich.
As Beth stated above, it takes work to build a successful business, but it’s also not difficult either if you prepare yourself with the right entrepreneurial mindset.
Great post!

Hi Angel! I agree, it’s quite easy to get side-tracked when working from home unless we’ve set some strict guidelines. Not only can there be distractions from our relaxed environment, we have to establish a strong work ethic so people take us seriously. It’s also easy for family to think we’re available just because we’re at home. Being professional at our at-home business and always having focused work habits will yield results and give us the credibility required for people to take us seriously. I really appreciate your comments, Thank you! Loren

It really is so important for people to remember that they are indeed in business and that they should treat their home business as such. Sometimes I think that people get too comfortable and forget that they have to actually work. I personally have to stay on top of my self and my schedule to make sure I’m actually getting stuff accomplished and not just playing online

Consistency and persistence is what gets us to that next level, and the next. Then there’s our commitment to our focus and driving force! Thanks so much for your comments, Beth! Many blessings, Loren

Thanks for some great feedback, Terry. I like what you said about being our own creators and accepting that responsibility. We definitely are responsible for what is being created in our lives, from attitudes, illness or health to poverty or wealth… the whole gammit. I think people have to sometimes be shown the way, but not led by the hand. That way they’re being empowered to step up to the plate without interference in what is meant to be. That’s where our support as leaders comes in, isn’t it! Then, it’s interesting to just take a step back and wait for those who take on the challenge and watch them rise! I enjoy all that you do and offer to the community and industry Terry! Good stuff!

Hi Loren,
I love your leadership style. We definitely think a like.
People need to develop themselves into leaders. It is the “who” we become and how we “are” that creates the lifestyle we have…we are the creators.
If people are not happy with their income they need to look at the value they are bringing to the market place.
Some times that can be scary…
Thanks for your leadership Loren.
Best of Success!

Hi Loren~ I’ve had a home based business for 14 years now, and have been full time for 3 years. You are spot on that to generate a full-time and beyond income you have to treat your business like a business! Find something you’re passionate about, that’s in a growing, in-demand market, and then pursue it with consistent and persistent actions every day! We are always the only ones really getting in our own ways. Thanks for your insight!

Hi Loren
This is great summary of the benefits of starting an online business. I think the two most important points you make are….
1. You need to have a good understanding of how to run and market a business…So many people start a business from home without any knowledge at all. If you don’t already have some business knowledge, then you need to be prepared to learn and build that time and cost into your business plan.
2. The second really valuable point you make is that you need to treat your business as a business, not a hobby. It doesn’t have to be full time, but devoting fixed hours to your business is just as essential in the online world as it is the offline world.
Louise

Hi Loren!
It is great to be on your blog and to explore the valuable information that you are sharing. I love your admonition to treat your business like a business. That is a particular passion of mine, so we are definitely on the same page!
Without that attitude, any money earned will be short lived! I appreciate that you are “telling it like it is”!!!

You’re so right Lori. It’s about being committed and focused in the game, having clarity around the segment we want to market to, doing that without trying to do everything and staying the course. Thanks so much for your valuable input.

Loren,
Great information on what to do when start your own business, the one I like the best is about treating your business like a business not a hobby. That will dictate how much money you can ultimately make.
